And when I finally do figure out how to get the stops and their colors right, the little Add Fill to Palette icon on Gradient Swatch panel doesn't save them correctly, so all my work is lost. What's that button there for if it won't actually save the gradient? You won't be able to tell it, but in the attached image, the user interface has seemingly locked up because I tried to change the color of a gradient stop by clicking a color in the Swatch panel. No UI widgets work: no scroll bars or menus or anything. I just have to keep clicking on things and pressing Escape for a minute before the program becomes responsive again. So far I haven't lost work because of this hang, but I haven't figured out exactly what causes it or what I do that finally cures it.
