_martin
Hey guys, honestly I'm too lazy / busy to make an indeep search in this forum about After Effects and Affinity Designer workflow (but I did a search of course!), so this maybe is already known: Affinity Designer is great and in a lot of ways much better then Illustrator - we all know this, therefore I'm skipping this point. However, when it comes to motion design the workflow is a bit nasty. After Effects don't understands .afdesign files, .eps doesn't support layers, .ai is private and we are all used to import AIs into After Effects with all of our layers and stuff. There are two ways to integrate Affinity Designer in this workflow: 1. Create graphics in Affinity Designer, export graphics as PDF, open PDF in AI, create layers and sort everything to them, save as .ai and work with them in After Effects or better: 2. Create graphics in Affinity Designer, CTRL + A, CTRL + V in Illustrator, create layers and sort everything, save as .ai and work with them in After Effects So, unfortunately we can't skip Illustator yet, but at least we can use Affinity Designer in our workflow and take the pain out of making graphics. Cheers!
FUNSAB
Cheers , You can import the PDF u exported from designer into after effects directly , it will retain the layers . _martin
Michael117
So you are saying the real solution is for Serif to create their version of After Effects! :D
sle7en
So to put a soft end to this discussion what is the best workflow between affinity and illustrator without losing layer and group information?
