Select multiple paths / marquee areas

Hi.

I'm sure this is easy, but I can't figure it out. After creating a couple of clipping paths, how do you choose 'all' of the paths and make selection, i.e. to then work just in those areas for editing?

It seems, as soon as more than one area is created, the ability to make selection disappears.

Any help would be muchly appreciated.

Update: clicking on multiple paths, then grouping those as a single layer, then clicking the dropdown Select > Selection from layer does seem to work.

Is there a shortcut for this?
