DXF Export from Affinity Designer from iPad is Empty

Recommended Posts

I’m trying to export a few different files from Affinity Designer in DXF format for import into Shapr3D (CAD program).  Every file I export is blank.  When i look at the export preview it simply has a white square around the text/objects I want to export. No lines or designs.  Are there additional steps I need to take?  I’m a bit of a novice with Designer and far more familiar with Photo.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would recommend checking a few things. First is a layer structure,  sometimes grouped or hidden layers can cause problems. Make sure everything you want to export is on a single visible layer without masks or special effects that might not export well. And double check your export settings. The DXF format can be tricky, so try exporting with different versions like R12 or R14. One of these might work better with Shapr3D.

Also try converting everything to curves. DXF files work better with vector paths, not text or shapes. So, before you export, select your objects and choose “Convert to Curves.” This can often fix the issue. Let me know if any of this helped!
