Jilly
Illustrator has an option to Align to Key Object. This allows us to, when making alignments (equivalent to Affinity Designer’s Arrange panel), align all objects in relation to a single one that’ll be “locked” in place (video of behaviour). Two ways to make a specific object the Key Object in Illustrator: After selecting multiple shapes, select Align to Key Object in the panel, and the topmost object will be the Key Object. After selecting multiple shapes, click once on the object you want to be the Key Object. That object will get a thicker blue outline, to indicate it is the Key Object. Omission of this feature is further exacerbated by a bug in Affinity Designer where locked shapes can still be moved via the Arrange panel.
