Transform & Repeaters Question

Recommended Posts

I just bought AD and I do not care if it does everything I want. I just want to explore it and contribute to this fine tool and its evolution.

I do mostly abstract geometrical art and am wondering if it can do the following functions.

1. Something similar to the "Adobe Transform Effect Tool" with Copies (repeater), rotation, position and scale control.
I use this tool to create repeated object patterns in spirals or horizontal stripes.

2. Rotation and copy function. I use this to create mandala patterns around circles. This would also be a part of a repeater function.

3. Custom brushes - Pattern, Art, Scatter - I use this a lot to create custom borders that tile the object. For example I would like to have a brush with all dots that scales based on pen pressure. Illustrator way to do this is a pain making all the dots in a line first.

If AD has a repeater function please share the terminology used in user manual for me to learn.

Hello,

Re 1, somewhat - look up power duplicate, check out video here: http://webdesign.tutsplus.com/articles/how-to-power-duplicate-in-affinity-designer--cms-25010

It works with rotations, scaling and translations, but not mirror operations yet as far as I can tell.

Custom image based brushes are easy to generate, e.g. see links within this thread: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/11553-ad-creating-custom-textured-brushes/

Cheers,

Oliver.
