Exporting EPS file to use with vinyl cutter software

I've created a vector file that I need to export as an EPS in order to use with my cutter/plotter software. When I export the file as EPS and read it in to the other software all the 'central' detail is lost, i.e. the shape that has been cut out of the centre of my circle (see images from Affinity designer with the detail and then the Graphtec software which is just a circle).

If I open this in illustrator and save as an EPS it works fine. I don't understand and I'm not going to have illustrator for much longer so need to fix a workaround somehow.
