Hello! I’m struggling to recreate this effect from PS, that uses blend if (see screenshot). The layer that is blended is just painted in red, color dodge blend. I can’t understand how can I use blend ranges to only appear that red layer only in highlights or shadows area of underlying layer. Please help )

I’ve managed to recreate it myself randomly moving the dots on the graph. It was really hard to get to the right spot and subtle changes on graph changes a lot. Attached screens are for blending for highlights only and shadow only.

Anyway I didn’t get how the Destination blend ranges work and when to use Dest and when Source. All “great” tutorials mentioned here are mostly repeating the official one about blend ranges and it is very general information.
