How to separate style and content in Publisher

Recommended Posts

Hello,

As a programmer/designer I'm looking for a way to generate a beautiful printable document using Affinity Publisher with a similar pipeline I could do with Latex or HTML/CSS i.e. a formatted text file (whatever) and a style file (Publisher). It would be even more convenient if I could call it from command line to generate the output pdf. For the input, I can generate any document format what could fit.

Usecases:

- apply company letterhead style to any text

- create business plan report with text, graph and table

- slides presentation

I hope we can use Publisher to replace Latex for generating document :)

Affinity Publisher is not even remotely close to that at the moment.  It's not at all clear that Serif even want to take the product in that direction.  But today, there is no scripting support, no data merge, and only a paltry handful of hardcoded fields/variables.  Not possible to do what you want with the current release.
