How do I load HEIF files into Affinity from a Canon R6 mark ii please?

So when I try to open a HEIF from a Sony A1, .hif 10bit, 4.2.2, through the FILE-OPEN all documents, these files do not show up. But……… When I just drag a file from my desktop and drop it on the AFFINITY PHOTO 2 icon, the software opens with the file and I can edit the hif files as any image file. Why not allowing to open these files through FILE-OPEN.

If I choose File->Open, heif files are not selectable. This also happens when trying to select source files for a batch job. (If I drag and drop the files individually, or use 'Open with...' in the finder, they open fine.) Why is this?

Hi all, just wanted to report a small issue i have come across with opening a HEIC file in affinity My samsung a52 produces HEIC file format, when i open affinity and direct it to the folder with the HEIC file directly from my phone it can not see it, however when i run the original HEIC file through Image converter by Johhny Westlake and select convert to HEIC and then point affinity to that folder it can then see the converted HEIC file Just to be clear, Affinity can open my original HEIC file if i right click on it and select open with, but it can not see it if opened from inside Affinity Thanks James UPDATE It seems the difference between HEIC & HEIF is the issue, my phone produces a HEIC file, but when uploaded to Google drive then downloaded to my PC, Google downlaods the file as a HEIF file extension instead of the original HEIC HEIF FILE.heif HEIF FILE CONVERTED WITH IMAGE CONVERTER JOHNNY WESTLAKE.heic
