  1. only trying to point out that I think Affinity designer has faulty 'seatbelts' and it would save a lot of headaches if they were fixed
  2. I understand that people should not rely on safety systems like this and I was merely just giving an example however that's a bit like saying cars shouldn't have reverse sensors because drivers know they're not supposed to crash into things.
  3. I feel like Affinity really needs to improve their auto-recovery and autosaving into their programs. I can rely on almost every other program to open up a file after a crash or recover lost work but not Affinity designer. Application or computer crash after you haven't saved in a while? welp, that's 3 hours of work you can't get back. I've had multiple instances where either the app or my computer has crashed and there isn't even a hint at some kind of 'application didn't close properly would you like to open this back up' it's just straight into the opening screen like nothing happened. Now don't get me wrong I love Affinity's software I think it's miles ahead of the competition, but even Adobe with their poor optimization and buggy apps can figure out how to autosave and recover lost work if something goes wrong. This needs to be fixed, is anyone else experiencing this?
  4. I was working on a document in affinity designer (on mac) and I was trying to edit a photo so I clicked on edit in affinity photo, this wasn't what I wanted and for some reason I thought it has duplicated the file and opened it in affinity photo so I closed the affinity window and clicked don't save. when I went back to designer I was horrified to see that the document was gone. Is there any way of recovering this file either through affinity or caches or temps, anything??
  5. Hi, this might be a silly question but I was wondering if there was a way to position a group of objects closer or further away from a central anchor point without changing the size like you would by holding ⌘ and scaling from the center except without actually changing the scale. For the image below, I would like to move all the inner spokes of the wheel inwards without changing their size. I realize I can do this manually one by one but is there a way to do them all at once?
  6. I was wondering if there was a way to group elements that are on different layers. For instance, I would like to group the 'compass' into one but still keep the 'document' sandwiched in between while not including the 'document' in the group. Is this possible? *see image for context*
  7. I am trying to remove the background of a particular image (attached below) but and I know that using blend modes on a fill layer I can remove the black and replace it with whatever colour I want, but I want the background to be transparent and I can't find a way to do that using blend modes which seem to be the best way to do this. I was wondering if there was a way to do this or a better method for removing the background of this image
