Is it possible to create the new fill layer a different size (somewhat smaller, and a specific dimension) so I have the appearance of a rectangle within a rectangle, stacked layers in the document? I tried creating document 1 with size 6x4 cm, applied a white fill layer to cover it, then created document 2 with size 4 x 3 cm, applied a black fill layer to cover it, then tried to copy the black layer from document 2 on top of the white layer of document 1. For some reason, the copied black layer from the smaller document completely covered the white layer of the larger document, which is unexpected.

When I create a new document, I am given a white background for my new document. How do I create a document with a different color? I'm sure this must be easy, but I am a new user of AP. (longtime user of Photoshop). Thanks!

As a long-type PhotoShop user, I am used to being able to copy layer effects (fx) from one layer to another. This could be done with a context menu selection. I have not found this capability in Affinity Photo. Does it exist? I found another user had posted an answer regarding another of your products, but I don't see that feature in Affinity Photo. Thanks for your input.
