The Frame Text tool, and the Artistic Text tool, both share the same keyboard shortcut "T". Sometimes when I press "T" I get one, and sometimes the other. Is there any way of controlling this, because 99% of the time, I want the Frame Text tool ?

Dave, thanks for the responses again. So, using the text ruler, I moved the top triangular first indent marker to the right, and the numbers went with it. I then clicked the right align button, and the numbers flipped to the left hand side of the first indent line, properly aligned to the right. Success, so I guess I've finally got there. Many thanks for your help, as I would never have worked that out by myself. I think you'll understand, if I say that for software that in all other respects is absolutely amazing, that process is unintuitive, and a bit clunky :-) I'll follow up on the pdfs, in your absence.

Dave, thanks for the response. I was definitely looking in the wrong place. So much to learn, but worth it. However, I'm afraid I'm with fde 101, clicking on the left, center, and right align buttons has no effect on anything in the list - numbers, or text. By the way, did you get the pdfs re embedding, I sent you ?

I think all these comments just show that for some people, like Thomaso, Old Bruce, and my colleague, scrolling works, and for others, like me and Walt, it doesn't. No matter how long I wait, nothing happens.

Dave, sorry, but I'm still struggling with this. The workaround works perfectly, but I can't get the "proper" solution to work. When I create the numbered list, it doesn't create any tab stops in the tabs field of the Paragraph panel. I can create tab stops after I've created the list, and I can move the text about without any problems. I can move the numbers, using the first line indent, but I can't see how I get it to "position the right edge of the list."

I originally posted this under reporting bugs, as I thought it was a bug, but now I'm not sure. Anyway, nobody has responded, so I thought I'd try posting it here, as it really is a problem for me. In a previous version I have successfully dragged page thumbnails in the pages column to a new position. I can't make that work in 162 or 174. The cursor changes to the symbol with a dotted rectangle, and the blue line appears beside the next page above or below, and disappears when I go outside the visible area, but the thumbnails do not scroll, and I cannot navigate to the point where I want to drop the page. In effect, I can only move a page one page at a time which isn't practical. I've got 174 running on two Windows 10 PCs, and it won't work on either of them, and I've tried with different files as well. However, my colleague who is also running 174 on a Windows 10 PC can move pages without any problems. Can anyone suggest why this might be happening ?

I read in the release notes for an early version of Publisher, that the problems with Exporting and Importing Assets in Windows had been resolved. Sadly not. My colleague and I are both running .174 on Windows 10 PCs. I exported some Assets without problem, but when he tried to Import them it crashed his version of Publisher. He tried it twice with the same result. It turns out that they were imported successfully, but it seems there are still issues with this process.

I've got a simple mumbered list - easy. However, I want to align the numbers as if they were on a right tab stop, not left, and can't find a way to do that. Can it be done ?

Two items which could be questions or suggestions. The two tools I use most are Move, and Text. Changing from Move to Text is easy - just hit "T". However, I can't find any shortcut for changing from Text to Move. It clearly isn't "V", which is assigned to Move, as that just adds a v to the text. Is there a shortcut which I haven't found ? If there isn't one, can there be one, as it's quite annoying ? I've been using the "Leading" option quite a lot for adjusting my text to fit the available space. I've tried all the settings, but they all increase or decrease the spacing by quite large amounts, for one click of the mouse. i.e 11.4,12.8, 14.4. Is it possible to set it to increase by 0.1 point for each click ? If not, could it be ?

Thanks for the response, but I've only sorted out one of the problems. The one that's causing me real problems is the inability to move a thumbnail more than one page at a time, because the list won't scroll. I have two Windows 10 PCs both running .174, and it doesn't work on either. My colleague has .174 on his Windows 10 PC, and it works fine. Any suggestions ?

I had to bite the bullet, and update to .174, as I was having a problem printing embedded pdfs, which it cured. However, it has made no difference to the other two problems with guidelines, and changing page order. When I first went into the updated programme, I did get the red line at the top, but now I don't - whichever tool I use.

Walt, we're talking about exactly the same thing, it's just the way I'm describing it. The only difference between what you get, and what I'm currently getting, is the top horizontal red line when you start, which has stopped working for some reason, making it more difficult to get the cross in exactly the right place.

Walt, I didn't make myself clear. I often draw a whole page box, and the other two lines appear when I complete the page. Looks like 174 has solved the problem. Maybe I should go for it !

Walt, thanks. I need my system to keep working for a few more days without problems, and in view of the hassle I had getting 162 to work, I'm avoiding it !

Some more issues I've come across on 162, on Windows 10. When drawing a text box on a new page, I set the cursor cross at the top left intersection of the margins. That used to produce a green vertical guideline, and a horizontal red one. The red one no longer appears. As I draw it out, the right hand green one appears, and the bottom red one, but never the top red one. I successfully exported a pdf to a memory stick. Later I exported another pdf, but the stick was no longer plugged in, and that crashed Publisher - froze completely, and I had to shut it down. Plugging the stick back in solved the problem. Plus one that I don't know whether it's a bug or I misunderstand how it works. I tried to split my pages into two sections - the first one with just two pages, and the second one with all the rest. I expected the page numbering in the thumbnail column to change to 1,2, then start again at 1 ( which is what I set in the parameters), but it didn't. Should it ?

Affinity replied, saying that the Security Certificate was corrupt. They sent me a new .exe file via Dropbox, which worked perfectly - so my problem, at least, is solved. Many thanks to all of you for your input.

Weekend over, and Affinity have responded. I sent them the Setup log, and they asked me to send them a copy of the .exe file, which I've done. Wait and see if they find anything.

Fair comment, and useful advice. The log doesn't mean much to me, but hopefully it will be of use to Affinity. SetupUI.log

Fotocat, that might indicate that this is Windows problem, and doesn't affect Macs. I'm on Windows 10. MtnArch, I've been using Publisher since the first Beta, and I haven't had this problem before. Anyone from Affinity going to comment ?

Opened up the App this evening, and it said there was a new update available. I downloaded it and tried to install it. Got part way through, and I got "Update failed" message, and it left me with nothing. Tried it again using the exe file, and it failed again. Gone back to the previous version. Anyone else got problems with this update ?

Thanks for the response, I am already running the latest version. However, I've worked out what's going on with the creation of assets. The text box I'm using is something that repeats quite often in the document, but it's quite small (full page wide and thin, with 10 point grey text). The result of that is that it is being created as an asset, but it's totally invisible in the assets panel, unless I click where I think it ought to be, when a blue square appears. When I drag the blue square into the document it transforms into the correct text box. So, it works, but not as I expected ! Not sure whether that's a bug, but it would be useful if you could fix it, so that it's visible. Text Styles working again OK. Strange.
