  1. Cheers all. I’ll give that a shot when back at my PC. thanks for the advice
  2. Nice - thanks for the guidance John. You mentioned a focus merge though this is not a focus merge - just a stack to replace a long exposure - does that make a difference in AP or will the result be the same?
  3. Hi folks. I use C1 for RAW editing, however it does not offer tools for bracketing or stacking. I have a 30 exposure (in place of long exposure) set, each with 0,-1,+1ev brackets (90 images). This will be my first time bracketing + stacking a set of exposures, so advise would be appreciated. If I edit the 0 ev exposures in C1 then send to AP they will be converted to Tiff and then not editable easily in C1 again. I’m not experienced in AP raw processing so not sure if that is the most appropriate way forward. Q1: Would it be best to edit exposures in raw first, in C1 or AP, then combine each bracket sequence, followed by stacking the result of the brackets? Q2: What alternate workflow might work best in this scenario, given the images will need some IQ processing? IE stack each bracket value first then combine each stacked image? Feedback welcome, thanks in advance.
  4. Wow GabrielM, that was both fast and comprehensive LOL. Thank you so much, I will dive into these and follow as suggested. Much appreciated. Ian
  5. Hi Folks. I'm brand new to Affinity, have no Photoshop experience and use Capture One for my Raw development work. I'm loving the the examples in Photo and attempting to get to grips with it, but it is so comprehensive that I get lost as soon as I start. The video tutorials on YouTube are great, both those from Affinity and others too, but I find I need to find a place to start! I need to learn Masking, Tone Mapping, Replacement (of sections of an image) as well as everything else, but in every tutorial there is a range of tools used, which I am sure do make sense to experienced users, but to me are overwhelming (i.e. showing masks the live filters, then explaining no mask required, and even an 'un-sharp' mask???) Really want to get to grips with this software and though I understand the layout and UI I need a 'Janet & John - Book 1' style approach, what to learn first, in what depth and then what next! Is there an order that I should watch the tutorials to get a paced learning with some degree of retention? Really appreciate constructive feedback. Ian
  6. Thanks Lee Any experience on doing double stacking, for example, focus stacking a panorama. I'm imagining having to focus stack each shot of the panorama, say 4 focus points, for each of a 5 shot panorama, then stacking these 5 shots! Sounds messy but not sure of Affinity will be able to handle the focus changes across the panorama? Guess I just need to try it out. I'll see what I can capture tomorrow whilst I'm out shooting some craggs for a trial panorama. Cheers Ian
  7. Hi Folks - new here. I use Capture One for my RAW work and have just dipped my toe into the Affinity waters. I'd like to combine panorama stacking with focus stacking whilst using C1 for the initial RAW conversion and adjustments, then transfer to Affinity the entire stack for merging. Is there a workflow already defined for a; transferring RAW with adjustments from C1 to Affinity (then hopefully back again at some point after stacking) and b; both focus stacking and panorama stacking in Affinity? Are these two mutually exclusive operations or can they be combined somehow? Appreciate you looking and any advice on either question. Cheers Ian
