  1. I don't spend a lot of time on Affinity Designer even though I've had it on my computer for years. Now, I wanted to start using it to create illustrations for a children's book. And so, whenever I drew one or two lines and connected them end to end or even a simple circle or other shapes, and then use the pressure graph to adjust the line width, there is this problem as shown in the picture attached here. I don't know if it is a bug, but It's probably a very common issue that could be easily solved. The thing is, I can't remember how it is solved. I tried to join the the two ends together but it doesn't smooth it out. How do I solve it? I'm a Windows User and I'm using the 1.8.5 version of AD. Thanks.
  2. Sorry for the late reply, it seems that the update 1.8.4 fixed it. It's working fine now. (I'm a Windows User by the way).
  3. I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to add something. I'm using a Wacom pen, and when I tried to select a certain layer that is nested inside another layer, I am not having any luck. I found that I have to use the mouse to select that layer. So hopefully in the next update the Wacom users would have a better luck using certain features we could not do with a wacom pen earlier.
  4. Um. I'm not sure, since the artist who sent me the PDF from her Mac computer used several fonts that has different names from the Window fonts. For instance, from Mac, "Boulevard", "Broken Glass," and 'ColorsofAutumn".....each time the Publisher suggested Font Family Replacement as "Arial". I just want the font to match the fonts the artist was using.
  5. I had a PDF sent to me from a fellow artist, but there is one problem; she had created the PDF in her MAC computer, so as a result the fonts in the PDF does not match the fonts in my Windows computer. I could search for fonts to match the fonts in the PDF, but it would be tedious. Is there a way for me to convert PDF fonts so they match the Window fonts? Possible? Thank you.
  6. When I was using Publisher, the layout looks fine in the publisher persona and also in Designer persona too. But when I switched to the Photo persona, everything looked pixelated. Is it a bug? Anyone experiences the same thing? How do I improve the quality in Photo persona? Thanks !
  7. When I created a design in 1.7 version using a few JPEG images; they all have white background, there was no strokes enabled - meaning there should be no black edges whatsoever. Yet, when I exported the design as a PDF, I see dark lines around the images. What happened? I have no issues with that in 1.6 version. I found a workaround method by enabling white strokes around the edges, but how do I fix it so there would be no edges when exporting as PDF? Thanks~
  8. I'm curious if the Publisher is going to include a tool to create QR code like Serif PagePlus did? (Adobe InDesign also have that tool too). I had took a brief look into the Publisher beta a few months ago but I didn't spend much time exploring because I was busy with my projects. Just wondering if it will have that tool...and if it does, I'd like to buy the stable version of Publisher when it comes out. Thanks~
  9. Ah, thanks. That is what confused me so much, when I used Export Persona... couldn't figured out how to transfer the files. I have looked via the Document Menu at one time and did not notice "share" at first. Now that I know it's there, I can email it to myself. Thanks again. Hopefully the next update there is a more simple way to transfer the files instead of overwhelming the users who bought AD on Ipad with so many options, lol.
  10. I have just purchased Affinity Designer on Ipad. I like it so far, the only issue I have with it is exporting files. I see there are ways to export - but so far, it is not easy to export, for example, PDF files from AD. Is there a way to simply email the files to myself rather than the hassles of exporting them through other means? Thanks~
  11. See the example of the Indesign...this is what I am wondering if Publisher (or other Affinity apps) has that. The reason was that I had been creating some of artworks from other programs, like Clip Studio Paint, then upload them to Affinity Photo to line them up and save them as PDF. After I sent it to the printer as of last weekend, my friend (and also my boss) called me today to complain that the colors are looking weird, and I can't figure out why and what went wrong. The printer suggested I turn on "Includes Appearances" that will keep the colors intact. He said it shouldn't matter which software I used as long as I can turn on "Includes Appearance." There is one problem...I don't have Indesign. I downloaded Publisher to see if it is possible to keep colors intact, but I can't find a way to do so, and I don't know how to ensure the colors would be correct and intact just like how I colored them from other programs. Hopefully there is a way for Publisher and other Affinity apps to keep the colors intact so I don't get my head bitten off by my boss. ^^; Thanks~
  12. I recently bought Affinity Photo (I also bought Affinity Designer a while ago, still not quite gotten around to using it much. So, I'm still a bit of a newie at those software). There is one thing I noticed when I opened a PSD file of lineart in Affinity Photo and turned on "Insert Behind the Selection" - I could not paint anything behind the line art , only on it. Same thing with Affinity Designer, when I opened the PSD file in the Pixel Persona - no such luck. Even if I just draw something directly in the Photo or the Pixel Persona (Designer), and then turn on "Insert Behind the Selection"...I can't paint behind the line art. It seems to work only if I use vector line art instead. Curious: Is there any way to paint behind the raster artwork, either in Designer or Photo? (I realize I could use Flood Select Tool or Select Brush Tool, I just wanted to see if it is possible to paint/color behind the raster line art the same way I could do with vector line art.) Thanks~
  13. I'm curious if there is a plan in the future to make pages interactive - I.E., click on one image, it shows brief animation or switch to another image. Would make great e-books for the children.
