HI MEB, Thank you for being helpful. I was reporting what appeared to be a bug. If it is a design choice, I suggest a redesign. A task in GIMP should never be more intuitive or fewer steps than paid software.

I have a render from Modo. Affinity Photo reads the alpha and makes the my environment aka background invisible. I have tries targa, png and tiff. Photoshop and gimp both handle the alpha properly. This program is consistent between both my Mac Book Pro and my Windows 10 PC.
