  1. Brilliant! ~ okay I haven't tried it yet but based on your description it sounds like just what I wanted ~ thanks thanks and thanks again
  2. How do I add a Pure White Border to any image I'm working on and… is it better to add it at the start or at the end. I've started do cut out my own mount cards and by adding a border it will not only give me more space to play with but also go a long way to help prove that nothing in the image is "Blown Out" (as club competition judges are apt to claim)
  3. Phew! ~ Boy 'o boy am I a 'Happy Chappie' or what? ~ I'm so glad that's all been sorted out. The change on the merged layer to Luminosity is a treat, a treasure! And although I still have a lot to do to get my image to a real 'Dragan Effect' it's already beginning to look the part just doing that simple change. So, a big BIG Thanks to you Drippy Cat but also a Ya'huge thanks to Patrick and all those at Affinity Photo for the time spent looking into this and helping to resolve the problem. It's just an idea but… perhaps Drippy Cat's version could be done in the Affinity style and go on your list of the in-house video tutorials? I know it'd be a heck of a lot easier to follow than the one with English subtitles. Thanks again guy's
  4. 2 x Afphoto files have now been sent using the drop off function both of these files hold the same image and both ended up with the same problem ~ over to you.
  5. Yes Drippy Cat… I'll stick on this forum from now on ~ much'o thanks for all your help and great lessons.
  6. I've had a quick look at it ~ big thanks for passing it on but even with subtitles it is quite difficult to follow. I was in fact, hoping the guys from Affinity Photo themselves would post a full tutorial on how to create this effect ~ So-oooh if you are reading this perhaps you'll respond either with a… "it's in the pipeline" or actually tell me/us how to go about it in several steps (if that's possible)
  7. I've been following a tutorial on UDEMY called creating a 'Dragan Effect' which basically follows this path…base layer: Blend Mode Normal, 100% opacity. Levels Adjustment: Normal Mode, 100% opacity. Multiply Layer: Multiply Layer Blend Mode, 50% opacity. Light Bits: Overlay Blend mode, 100% opacity. Merged: Normal Blend Mode, 33% opacity. B&W: Saturation Blend mode, 100 & opacity. ~ After this the 'Merged Layer' is then moved down to just under the B&W layer. At this point, the tutor then reduces the Opacity in the B&W layer to re-introduce some colour again before going on to the next stage ~ however no matter how many times I've tried it, as soon as I try to reduce the B&W opacity nothing happens! No colour appears! and it now appears that no matter what I do on any yes, any layer nothing alters, nothing happens. It is an effect I'd like to master but now I'm wondering is there a bug in your system or is there something else I should be doing ~ failing all that how would you guys create the so-called Dragan Effect?
  8. That great thanks to el moderators and RC-R for spotting the B&W mess around. However whilst I am thankful for learning how to make the old colour (in my case Red) peep through my B&W image again what if I want to chang e the colour from red to to say green or blue or indeed any other colour ~ Can this be done and if so ~ How? - Thanks again from Digbydo
  9. I'm trying to turn a colour photograph (It's of the Forth Rail Bridge in Scotland) into a Black & White one however… having done that, I want to bring back some of the red parts of the bridge. I would also like to do this 'Dash of Red' in other photographs too perhaps even some where there wasn't any red in the original colour photograph. Is this possible and what is the best way to proceed? - Much'O Thanks for any help given. ~
  10. I have watched the tutorial & other Youtube vids about 'Frequency Separation' I am getting better at it however once I've finished and say I then want to change the colour of the eyes or lips how do I come out of both High & Low Frequency layers each tutorial only shows how to do it (which is great) but what if you want to go on and do other layers and adjustments - or - should these be completed first?
  11. I'm considering joining a 'Camera Club' where they run competitions for both Print and Projected Digital images (PDI's) The rules state that the image size for both Print & PDI competitions must fit within a maximum pixel count of 1400pixels wide by 1050 pixels high and also if entering an image, which is of a 'Portrait Format' then the images must also comply, meaning that portraits can only be a maximum of 1050 pixels high. This being the case can you tell me what is the best way to crop and comply to the rules and also what is the best way to then export the images as a jpeg (complete with the above pixel count) - Thank you Hope you can help
  12. coping to pixel size

  13. I have several shots of colourful beach huts but I'd like the colours to be much much brighter than they currently are ~ How do I alter them and if I want to make them really 'POP!" what is the best way to perfect this? ~ Thanks!
  14. How to individually select and brighten colours

  15. When starting out to alter /change an image what are the steps that should always be taken and in what order?

  16. Hiya 'n Thanks for highlighting the tutorial I'm getting on with it quite well my only concern is that I have a section in the foreground, which has several branches (some with leaves) and I'm wondering is there a quicker way to select the spaces which show parts of the sky so as my 'good sky' can come through?
  17. I know its been a while since you guys answered my first question but I've been really busy trying to get to grips with all the features on this system so I'd just like to say a big thanks (even though it has arrived late) still better late than never. My next thing to try and sort out is how to replace one sky with another - I have a good photo with a drab sky and another photo of a great sky but sod all else in it so, the question is how can I move the good sky into the good photo?
  18. I have several photos where i want to either brighten an area in the foreground or bring out its colour. These photos are of sunsets but I'd like to lighten small areas in the foreground how do I go about doing this (note I'm a non PS user and a beginner of Affinity Photo)
  19. Getting to grips with layers. Can some one please help me I've never done anything with photoshop and so everything is new to me however these layers seem to be better to know about than not so some simple hints tips and advise should get me going.
