  1. Thanks,R C-R! I've got it working again. Much appreciated.
  2. I just downloaded version 2.2 on my Macintosh desktop. Since I've done so, the inpainting brush doesn't work. It overlays the part I want removed in red but doesn't remove it. Has the manner of using the brush changed or is this a bug?
  3. Thanks for the information. I appreciate your response. I should note that sometimes the rectangles resolve after a while. Most of the time they never do irrespective of how long I wait. I downloaded AP 1.9.1.219 Beta yesterday and the situation improved dramatically. I tried it with several files and they all rendered nicely except one which failed to render properly.
  4. Is this an issue addressed by the new 1.9 Beta?
  5. Here's a screenshot of another attempt with the same RAW file.
  6. I have the same issue. When developing a RAW file in the AP 1.9 Develop Persona rectangular shapes of different brightnesses sometimes appear. It doesn't happen with all photos but with many. I believe the Shadows & Highlights sliders are the prime issue. If the rectangular irregularities appear, I can sometimes get them to disappear by slightly adjusting one or other of the sliders. They often reappear, however. Sometimes when I am able to get the picture I'm working on to clear of the rectangles and send the file to the Photo Persona, the rectangles reappear. This is very annoying and prevents me from using the programme with some pictures. I have a 27" iMac with the latest operating system (macOS Big Sur 11.2.1). I'm attaching a screenshot of a picture in the Photo Persona that displays this anomaly.
  7. I've been experimenting with Affinity Photo 1.9. I notice that I quite frequently get geometric artifacts when in either the Photo or Develop personas. It has happened that they will go away if I wait long enough, but they usually don't go away. If anyone can shed any light on this, I'd appreciate it. I'm attaching a screenshot.
  8. I'm a bit of a novice with Affinity Photo. I'm trying to check out the new AP1.9 Divide Blend Mode. I'm following the tutorial posted on YouTube. I note, however, that the colour wheel in the upper right hand corner of Affinity Photo on my iMac doesn't look quite the same as in the video and I can't get it to work. Can anyone tell me how to set it up so it will work properly? Thanks in advance. Screenshot appended...
  9. I have a 27" iMac running macOS Big Sur 11.2. I purchased Affinity Photo through the Apple app store quite some time ago. It's the latest version of the app. I've had significant problems lately with the programme freezing and taking extraordinary time performing actions. Does anyone know if the programme is more stable if purchased directly through Serif? If so, I''ll uninstall what I have and purchase again through Serif. Thanks for anything you can tell me about this.
  10. Thanks walt.farrell! Problem solved. It was the opacity slider. I didn't realize you could adjust the opacity on a brush that was basically a sophisticated erasure. Have a great one. Thanks to all who responded.
  11. Tried to remove small tree in upper left of picture with inpainting tool. It appeared to be working in that it highlighted the tree in red and the progress bar ran indicating the programme was working. When it quite the tree was still there. I didn't apply any layers to the picture. I've used the inpainting tool many times previously without issue.
  12. I have Affinity Photo 1.8.6 (purchased through Apple App Store) on a 2015 27" Macintosh computer running macOS Big Sur 11.1. The inpainting brush stopped working properly about a week ago. I can highlight areas I want affected but the inpainting function fails to apply. It has been working fine up to a week ago. I'd appreciate it if anyone can tell me how to fix this problem. Thanks.
  13. Thanks, Carl! The opacity slider was zeroed out. I appreciate your help. Have a good one.
  14. The inpainting brush in Affinity Photo 1.7.2 stopped working for me two days ago. I can acquire the brush and it does the red highlight over the area I'm trying to heal, but nothing happens. I've run OnyX but the issue still remains. Does anyone else have this issue or does anyone have a suggested solution? Thanks.
  15. Hi! Thanks for answering. I tried to export a PSD again this morning and the same thing happened. The "Preview unavailable for this file" notification popped up when I opened my Lightroom folder. I decided to press the import button anyway to see what would happen. The following popup appeared: "The file uses an unsupported bit depth. (1)". I'm guessing that somehow when playing around with settings yesterday I must have adjusted the PSD bit depth in a way that Lightroom doesn't like. How do I get back to default settings? What should the bit depth of a PSD file be? How do I adjust it back to where it normally should be. I'm sure there's no issue with either Affinity Photo or Lightroom as far as this issue is concerned because I was able to import Affinity PSD files into Lightroom prior to yesterday without issue. Thanks for helping out. I do like AF.
  16. Hi! I was trying to export a photo file from Affinity Photo 1.5 as a PSD to process further in Adobe Lightroom using File>Export. I downloaded the file onto my desktop (27" iMac running osSierra). It appeared there. I loaded it into Lightroom 5.7.1. When I did so the following message appeared on the image icon: "Preview unavailable for this file". I double clicked on it to see what would happen and the following message appeared: "Could not read file." This only happens when trying to export as a PSD. What settings should be used when preparing the PSD file (Preset; Resample; Area)? I have a feeling that I did something inadvertantly to gum things up. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I'll greatly appreciate it. Have a great day!
  17. Can I make Adobe RGB (1998) my default in the Output Profile? I always have to change from sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
  18. Thanks, Callum. I appreciate your response. I followed your suggestion but nothing happened. When I first opened Affinity Photo I thought the interface had a solid structure rather than floating elements. I can't seem to get the initial interface back. Having said that, I can work with what I've got, it's just not my preference. Thanks again. Have a good day.
  19. I managed somehow to get out of the default interface (AF 1.5) and can't seem to restore it. How do I get it back? Thanks!
