  1. Publisher 1.7.3, Mac OS X El Capitan, fonts managed via FontExplorer v4.2.4

    Simple 1-page layout document A4, with a few text blocks and a few vector objects.

    The text in the document had styles assigned already, using a currently unavailable font.
    I'm attempting to change the style to a different font.
    Clicking on a style in the palette crashes Publisher at the first attempt.
    After relaunching, the style editing may usually work eventually. Until the next time it crashes again.
    An earlier version of the document that had the initial font available also already showed the same crashing behavior.

    Sometimes Publisher also crashes on selecting/editing a text object on the page. I cannot figure out any pattern in that.
    Since this is the first time I was attempting to do some, er, real work with Publisher, I can't compare to other documents yet.

    Attaching all recent crash logs and a redacted copy of the affected file.

    If AP 1.7 should be compatible with Mountain Lion, then it shouldn't be dependable on the MapKit.framework, of course…

    Affinity Designer 1.7 works fine as far as I can tell, by the way.

    The Crop Tool is already being rewritten and will include both crop and resampling in one operation besides other modes/improvements.

    This is good news.

    Just yesterday I thought I'd give AP another try within my usual image editing workflow, but got completely stuck at something as trivial as cropping.

    Seriously: The current cropping concept is one of most counterintuitive workflows I've ever encountered in any professional Mac software.

    (Disclosure: Frankly, as a Mac user since 30 years I have absolutely no idea how counterintuitive Windows software can be…)

    IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE OFFER, […]

    From what I can say so far, it's an OS issue:

    • No offer to be seen on Mac OS X 10.8.5. Mountain Lion.

    • Once I have booted the Mac from a macOS Sierra partition, the offer was there right away.

    So the culprit is possibly WebKit?

    WebKit on Mountain Lion is pretty much broken nowadays, due to lack of TLS 1.2 support.

  5. A linked slice also follows the position and size of the layer it is linked to (unless you manually edit the slice rectangle, which I'll explain in a moment). If I resize or move my layer, the Slice rectangle will track it.

    […]

    For the user to be able to edit a slice, you select it by clicking on it using the Slice Tool and can then edit it you want.

    Well, not always.

    Probably a bug:

    1) I have created several artboards in Designer, then in Photo I added various pixel layers, created linked slices and exported.

    2) A couple of weeks later, I added another artboard in Designer while rearranging the older artboards. Again added more pixel layers in Photo. In the Export Persona though, the slices remained at their original absolute positions, either on different artboards or completely outside. When I select them in the Slices palette, they are not editable. I can only create new ones.

    Or am I missing something?

  6.

    Are you referring to Publisher?

    No, I was asking about the upcoming versions 1.5 of Photo and Designer as discussed in this thread.

    (My personal reason: On the one hand more and more updated apps out there are dropping support for 10.8.5 in general which is a bit unfortunate, because on the other hand more and more audio hardware manufacturers are dropping driver support for current versions of OS X, making me stuck with 10.8.5 and a bunch of at their time quite expensive but still perfectly working audio interfaces…)

    ~~~
    But… à propos Publisher: any news on the release date…? :)
