Ok, now I noticed that in Affinity Photo the brushes don't even show up at all, what's going on???

Hello, I'm trying to use the Paintbrush tool in the Pixel persona, but none of the brushes are displaying properly and they don't work either - please advise what is wrong and how to fix, as I'm trying to complete an assignment and this is extremely frustrating:
