While working with the clone tool, it cut a hole in my image. All I did was hover. I tried Undo, but all that did was undo the clones that I did before this happened. The hole remained.

Can you reproduce it? No
Does it happen for a new document? If not can you upload a document that shows the problem? It only just happened this once time.
What is your operating system and version Mac Monterey 12.4
Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? (and have you tried the other setting?) ON
