This makes sense, when i have applied this method visually the border always looks bigger or smaller than I expected. I just experimented and added 1inch to the dimensions to achieve the 0.5 inch border all around, however I'm looking at this now thinking that looks a lot bigger than 0.5 inch? Please see screenshots attached, so I added 1 inch to make 12 x 16 inch canvas thanks again

thanks for getting back to me, but what determines the size of the border? say if I want 0.5 or 1 inch how do I add this? What's the easiest way to do this

I tried to add 1inch to see if it would work so from the youtube tutorial you add 96 pixels so 6096 x 6096

it is always set to 300dpi. I'm not sure what's going wrong

I have watched a youtube tutorial and understand how to do this but when I enter the resize canvas settings the border doesn't look that big despite entering the correct pixels. Canvas size is currently 6000 x 6000 pixels I would like to add a 0.5 inch border Black background was just to check the size
