for anyone else having an issue with this, I figured out I need to select both curves with the move tool, then switch to the node tool and click and drag over both nodes, then the join button is available. thanks

How do I join overlapping nodes? I can't find the answer anywhere on the internet. I use the node tool, drag to select both the nodes but "Join Curves" is greyed out. Close curves is possible, but that creates a closed shape, i just want to join 2 lines. In Illustrator I would drag over the 2 nodes then press ctrl+J. Can someone please help me understand what I'm doing wrong? Thank you so much.
