Press Enter to get the second row of text. Use the green and red triangles to adjust the start and finish positions of the text. Select the line of text you want to adjust. In the Context Toolbar there are controls to reverse the text, if you need to, and to adjust the baseline of the text. (i.e. inside or outside of the circle.)

Thanks. So pressing Enter gives me another set of the green and red triangles? Cool.

@Oufti, I think the OP may be talking about items like Tab Stops, Justification, Flow Options, etc. that are too large in the panel itself, not text in the document.

You are correct, I was asking about the titles of the various drop down menus within the panels. This may be a browser or OS function, but I cannot figure out how to make them smaller. You can see how the lower half of the letters are partially obscured, or seem masked, because the text size is too large. Anyone have a solution to this problem?

    Thanks to the responses.

I experienced this issue too - I was using Shift Tab instead of Return at the end of the line. I did correct this, and still could not justify All for the paragraph and then justify left the last line.

The solution that worked for me was to create a text style - this gives you the following options under Paragraph > Spacing:

    • Alignment - Justified Last Line Left
    • Space After - 0pt

    Thank you!

  4. The .afphoto is on the L drive? I'll unplug the L drive and try again, but in looking at my L drive, I don't see .afphoto there. The extension is attached to the Flag image that I was working on, but I don't see the app there.  But I am by no means an expert in file management, not even close. Do you think that simply saving an image to a thumb drive could cause these problems?

OK, I unplugged the L drive, which is a thumb drive, and went through the process again, by attempting to edit images that are on my C drive. Same results.  And Publisher still won't open.

I'm trying to write a program for a non-profit here in town, but without the word wrap function, it's going to be difficult.

    Any other ideas? THANKS!

  5. I am running Windows 10, updated, and Affinity 2.4.2. All Personas were updated a few weeks ago, and things worked well. Now, however, while working on a project, I cannot switch from Photo to Designer (and vice versa). A new problem popped up just the other day: unable to open Publisher at all.  The Publisher icon on my taskbar is smaller than before, perhaps that's a clue to what's going on. I purchased the original Affinity suite from Serif, as well as all upgrades (including V2).

Would it be best, or simpler, to delete and reinstall? (I have my version 2 License key). Would that fix these problems? Or is that even possible? I don't even know where these apps are located on my computer anymore.  If I can find the executables, must I delete the programs and purchase them again?

Attached are screenshots of the taskbar, an open Photo editing screen, and the error message I get when trying to switch from Photo to Designer.

    Thanks for all help.Taskbarscreenshot.thumb.JPG.eb594678e2c16e778d388f1fc9c0b368.JPG

  6. Thank you for responding, DWright. I appreciate it.

I purchased the original Suite from Serif, or Affinity. I have installed all updates since then. I also purchased the 2.0 version from them directly.  The current version that I have on my desktop for all three personas is 2.4.1.2344. I am running MS Windows 10.

I don't know whether I have the "MSIX" or "EXE" version of the apps. Could you tell me where/how I could find out? Again, I purchased the suite directly from Affinity.

Thank you again for your help on this. I have used the suite for years without a problem, then all of a sudden this problem popped up. I THINK it may have happened after I purchased the upgrade, but I'm not 100% sure.

I am a hobbyist and use this just for creating announcements, etc. for a local non-profit.

  7. Walt, I am writing a paper in Affinity Publisher. I create a text frame. I am single spacing and justifying. I enable the "Justify Left" button at the top, which to my understanding justifies everything but the last line.I get to the end of what I call a paragraph (a group of sentences pertaining to a related theme, subject, thought, etc. which is subordinate to the total content of the paper). I want to start a new paragraph but without skipping a line. The last sentence of my paragraph only contains a few words. I don't want those few words to be fully justified.

    How can I do that?

    Thanks for your patience.

You probably are using Line Breaks (Shift+Enter) rather than Paragraph Breaks (Enter) after each of those lines you think are end of paragraph. If so, they aren't. They're in the middle of the paragraph.

Walt, please explain. Yes, those lines LOOK like they are at the end of a paragraph. Am I in a parallel universe or something? LOL  It's the last line of what I was always taught was a paragraph. But unfortunately, I went to a Government school.  Maybe that's the problem.

When you select the entire frame with the Move tool, the button's icon will reflect the first paragraph and not necessarily all of the paragraphs. With the frame selected, try clicking the button again. If the is the issue that should fix it.

    Good luck.

This doesn't work for me, or maybe I'm misunderstanding. Anyway, I appreciate that you tried to help me. I'll try to figure out a workaround.

  10. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I used a "clipping" utility to clip the section of the desired section of the screen I wish to clip, or the entire screen, then save it to a folder. Then "Choose files" and go to the folder. etc.

But I'd kind of like to focus on my problem at hand, namely, a solution to the problem I'm having with the last line of the paragraph being fully justified.  I have read Alfred's and Walt's ruminations, and I agree that forcing a new paragraph may be the issue. Is it not possible to left justify the last line of a forced paragraph?
