Affinity Photo not opening raw from photos on Mac

WamB posted a topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)

When I use Affinity Photo as a plug-in for photos on my Mac, it opens raw files just fine in the develop persona. But if I go straight to Affinity Photo desktop and try to open the same raw pic from photos, it doesn't open as raw- it opens in the photo persona. Sony ILCE-7M2.
