  1. I am using Affinity Photo 1.9.1 on an iMac running Big Sur 11.2.3. In Photos when I click Edit and Extensions I can choose from those shown in the list attached. Whenever I choose “Edit in Affinity Photo”, Affinity always receives the Original photo regardless of any edits that may have already been done. Therefore, if I make one edit in Affinity, save it and some time later decide to do something else the second time around Affinity gets the original photo back again so my previous edits are lost. It does not happen with any of the other Affinity editors. Why is this happening in Edit in Affinity Photo?
  2. I have discovered that when these b/w photos are opened in Affinity they have a Colour Format of ‘Grey/8’, however if this is changed (Document/Convert/Format ICC Profile) to ‘Grey/16’ and the ICC profile changed to something other than D50 then the error message does not appear and the editing works fine.
  3. I have just downloaded my own file, unzipped it, imported it into Photos, edited it in Affinity, did a simple crop, saved it, closed it in Affinity, back in Photos clicked Save Changes and got the error message "Unable to Edit with 'Edit in Affinity Photo'. I hope someone else can get the same fault.
  4. Here's the file that causes the error when loaded from Photos to Affinity as above. OE023.jpg.zip
  5. Whilst learning how to create the above video I practised on several other photos, doing the same thing in Affinity, just a crop, and noticed that the ONLY pictures I could get to go wrong and issue the error message were black and white ones created from scanning black & white negatives. When Affinity gets the photo is issues a message as shown below. I've several other black & white photos from black & white negatives and each time I edit any of them with Affinity I get this warning message and Affinity crashes when I return to Photos - as described above. However , if when the b/w photo arrives in Affinity I convert the colour profile to something else, e.g. RGB/16, and then proceed with the edit everything works OK. Therefore it would seem the problem is associated with "Greyscale D50" profile. I have other black & white pictures produced by scanning paper prints, these get a profile of Greyscale/8 when they arrive at Affinity and any editing works fine. But if I change the profile from Greyscale/8 to D50 then when I attempt to save any changes in Affinity and return to Photos I get the same Unable to Edit in Affinity error message - this somewhat confirms that it has something fundamental to do with Greyscale D50 Profile. I hope all that helps someone work out what is wrong - in the meantime I can proceed to use Affinity for my black & whites - just avoid any D50 conversions.
  6. I think this will show you what you wanted - starts off with a b/w photo in Photos, Edit, then Edit in Affinity, moves to Affinity, did a simple crop, saved, closed the file in Affinity, moved back to Photos app, clicked Save Changes, and Affinity issues the error message. 7. I've got the Affinity Store version back in 2018 with version 1.8.3. It used to work fine but there have been many updates to both to the Mac and Affinity.
  8. I am using Affinity Photo 1.9.1 on a iMac running Big Sur 11.2.3 and whenever I attempt to edit a photo from the Photos app using Affinity and save the photo from Affinity back to the Photos app Affinity crashes and issues the message, UNABLE TO EDIT WITH “EDIT IN AFFINITY PHOTO” and everything I have done in Affinity is lost. It doesn’t matter what I do in Affinity, it crashes after doing Command+S and Command+W to save and close the photo and then back in the Photos app I click “Save Changes” then the error message is issued. I have tried removing the Affinity Photos extension from the photos app and restarting the computer and then reestablishing Affinity extensions in Photos but the same error occurs. When I use Affinity to edit a photo opened directly - without using the Photos app - everything works fine, so there must be some problem with linking Affinity and Photos. Any ideas how to fix this?
