I just went from v1 to v2 (bundle package) and searched here for a way to turn on separation mode in APhoto. Negatively surprised that the feature is not in v2. I probably would not have upgraded if I had known this before

I'm running APhoto 1.10.6 and having the same problem.
Is the bug here fixed in the newer version 2 of APhoto?
One workaround is to save as png, and then use convertio.co to convert from png to gif. Not ideal, but it works. -
I have the same problem (that is APhoto crashes when some (not all) HEIC photos are imported from my iPhone 12 pro), but I have noticed that this only happens when the file name (ending) is written in uppercase (.HEIC). When the file name (on a file that makes APhoto crash) is changed from .HEIC (uppercase) to .heic (lowercase), it works fine. That is my experience anyway. Applies to both APhoto 1.8 and 1.9. Looking forward to this being fixed in future editions and hope the above can help identify what is causing the problem.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I am sure I’m in APhoto, but as added to my post above, the app crashed and the crop grid and handles was back to normal. I can only hope that it was a one time thing.

I am having the same problem, but unfortunately show content toolbar didn't do the trick.
There is no handles and no grid when I click the cropping tool. I might have pressed some key combination that has hid it but I can't seem get it back.
Please advice.Affinity Photo 1.8.6
Mac Catalina 10.15.7EDIT: The APhoto app just crashed, and when re-opened, everything was back to normal. Weird.
I can also add that a few days ago the app crashed several times when I tried to open a .heic file.

Yes, I purchased the package directly from Serif (summer bundle offer). Just bought and downloaded it today. If it is possible, yes I think I will ask for a refund. Thank you so much for taking the time to inform me about this. Appreciated.
