Thanks, for some reason it wont allow me to Boolean add them. The button isn't clickable. I did find another solution though, I just started over with a new file and it worked... Not sure what I did to make the past one the way it is. Thank you guys for your help.

Hi Garry and thanks for the reply. Appreciate that you made a video. So I tried the same thing and my outcome still isn't the same. I've played around with it and can't seem to get the result. In one case I don't think I can drag the bottom layer into the top one fully. I recorded my process showing what I tried and the layers involved. Affinity_Designer_2021-01-15_11-37-50.mp4

I couldn't find something that could resolve my issue in the search bar. I'm just trying to apply a simple clipping mask to these two layers but can't get it to work. One layer is a group of shapes that are going to be stripes. The other is a canopy for a boat. I am trying to add the stripes to the canopy layer via clipping mask, but it keeps chopping up the canopy layer. I am not sure how to do this correctly.
