  1. Had this happen spontaneously in a file I'm working on.  Nothing I did previously would indicate any reason for a background color to spontaneously appear, but my text and text frame tools both had a hot-pink background (which isn't even a color I was working with in any of my projects at the time)
Thanks to Sean P. for the fix, but it's disappointing to see that this is still a bug more than two years and a version update later.

@SarahBee: You might need to do a Reset.

    1. Close all the apps.
    2. Press and hold Ctrl while you start one of them.
    3. When you get the Clear User Data dialog, release Ctrl. (Note: watch the Windows Task Bar. You may need to click on the app icon to see the dialog.)
    4. Uncheck everything. Then check Reset Assets in the lower section. Press Clear.

Just wanted to thank you for this.  I stumbled across this answer looking for a solution to the same problem as OP (asset panel simply not functioning) and this worked perfectly.  Thanks!

  3. In Affinity Designer, when I try to add texture to a stroke using brush textures, it adds this extra tag that extends past the end of the stroke.  It's really annoying and in a lot of places totally messed up my lines.
I've attached a photo with highlighted examples.
Is there any way to solve this?  (changing the cap to "butt cap" sort of works, but it causes weird artifacts in a number of places.)
