  1. Hi Gabe, can you send me the private link to send you the files. I have now finished all jobs and I'll prep them for you to test...
  2. I have had to force quit twice because it wasn't responding. I can get through minor changes but save outs take close to 10 min. All these problems began after placing the 60page Designer file...
  3. ok, so fans are running wild but it does look like it eventually saves out. The publisher file is 6mg, all resources are linked. Is there a best practises for working with publisher files, 100+ pages, 50+ linked pages/documents etc... like saving/working from iCloud, linked vs embedded etc... Thanks, Allon
  4. Hi Gabe, I tried out 1.9 and it seems to work, no hanging and working fine, problem is some pages exported out are blank, so good news for the future. With the current document I am working on, I have imported the 60 page pdf (which all text) into designer first, fixing it up a little, then placing the designer file so it all keeps in the family. This also isn't working, fans start blowing, it gets very laggy and spinning ball and now wont save out. Any ideas on what I could now be possibly doing wrong.
  5. Hi Gabe, have tested the 1.9 beta and it worked with the 2 page pdf with passthrough. Will test it with importing the larger file. Thanks, Allon
  6. Great addition, can I download 1.9, is it stable? It would be handy for the second document I am working on. Monday I'll be adding an 80 page supplied pdf that killed it last time. Will send files for you to check when they are live.
  7. Hi Gabe, I will send it to you privately when the files are complete but I will need for you to keep them private please. I have just been working in the affinity suite Mac for the last few months with the problems above but here is what is going on today with one large report. I think the problem has to do with placing pdfs. I am working on an approx 100 page report (I started it fresh in publisher (not an IDML file)) and all has worked great so far. It's a simple document, one colour, 10 images, simple design. I kept saving out versions so I could go back if I had the same problem of not being able to save out again. I got up to V20 and then brought in a 62 page pdf file (Excel financials, Arial font, text only, export supplied) and it worked fine. Exported it out, saved all worked ok. This was the first pdf that was brought in, the rest were images. One page had a tiny problem (I supplied a screen grab) (which looked fine in the original pdf) so the client supplied a new single page the next day. When I opened up the publisher file the following day, the wheel spun, the pdf pages were low res and took minutes to look full resolution, it became laggy moving the document and would freeze up for minutes at a time. The pdf pages imported looked low res like they couldn't find the original document but they would then slowly fix themselves but also freeze up for minutes. The document was unusable and could not be saved out. The Mac's fans were spinning and blowing hot. After trying a couple of times, I had to force quit and restart. I went to a previous version saved pre-62 page import. The worst thing is that the client approved the later version that I couldn't use and I had to add back in 62 pages plus a few images. (p.s. When I had this problem with another job in a few months back, my solution was to import the pdf that I sent the client and keep going with that version which obviously isn't ideal because I lost formatting, character styles, image resolution, text flow etc. So, my solution for today with this project is that I opened up the previous version of publisher (before the pdf import), then I opened up the pdf in affinity designer and saved out the designer document. I then imported the 62 page designer document to publisher. There was another 2 page pdf where the entire fonts on the page were scrambled if I placed it in publisher. My solution here was to open it in illustrator and export it as an eps file (pdf and ai didn't work) where it outlined the fonts. I tested the eps files on a new publisher document and they worked both saving and exporting pdfs but to be sure, I opened them in designer and used the designer file to bring in to the new publisher document. I can save out the new document. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to open and save it again. Publisher has asked me a couple of times if I want link the images and documents but the publisher file is only 6.2mg so I said no. Importing the 62 page pdf to designer worked without font issues (except for the one page) but it's a problem when we don't have the fonts installed on our systems so it's not really a solution. I have two big jobs on at the moment, different clients and both importing supplied pdf's. I hope we can work this out. I cant be the only one out there with this problem. Even if there was some warning about brining in a file that may be a problem or having the option of being able to bring in a pdf as a locked, uneditable document like in inDesign. I love using the affinity suite and am happy to fully move over from CC but these problems are pretty serious... but I am still here and trying! I hope you can help, Thanks!
  8. I cant send you this document, I'm still working on It and it's confidential. After a week of working on it it starting hanging and had to force quit. To keep working on it I had to import the pdf to publisher and keep going. Have you not encountered this before?
  9. Hi guys, this has now happened to me 3 or 4 times with different documents 50+ pages, imported idml with pdf files imported throughout the document. Currently I am on Publisher 1.84 running Mac 10.15.7 but it also occurred with the previous operating system and earlier versions of publisher. I think it might have something to do with importing PDF's and they become editable (which is an excellent feature but I would love to know if it is possible to also import a pdf as a locked file and not have font issues etc like placing in indesign) The hanging on save allows you to zoom in and out of the pages, open some dialogue boxes like new document, about, check for updates etc but I have left it for hours and it doesnt resolve. I have uploaded a video from 2+ months ago, It is happening again and worries me because it's with bigger more complex projects and it doesnt look like it's going away. The video is small, but it shows you the save out dialogue box and then being able to still do other things. Thanks, Allon Screen_Recording_2020-08-06_at_11_11.26_am.mp4
