  1. Thank you to all who responded to my questions. Sorry for the delay in my thanks. Time slipped away too fast. I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and I wish everyone to have a great New Year ahead. God bless.
  2. Hi there. Question. How do I put auto curly quotes while in designer V1 or V2 while typing instead of straight quotes? What happened to the default text styles that I had in V1 but are not there in V2? I am currently using a trial in V2. I want to upgrade to V2, but if these styles are not there, I am not. And the curly quotes are in publisher, but not designer. Thank you very much for any help.
  3. Hi There: I just spent a lot of time designing a logo, but it said it was embedded on top, and would not allow me to save it for a later edit. And now I don't know where it went. Did it get deleted? And why did it show embedded on top? It didn't start out that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  4. I think I have the view wrong, because the ruler guides are huge, and have a minus sign, and the document is all over the place.
  5. Thanks for the reply and info. Any idea why the document "floats" in the program?
  6. Here's my screen shot. Sorry it is so big. I am fumbling my way through this whole process. Thanks top you all.
  7. Hi. I am currently working on a large document (750 pages) and converting it to PDF/x1a. I found out how to do this by first importing as a regular PDF, but when I import the document, it floats around the screen. Is there something I should be doing to stop this? Also, there is no PDF/x1a extension on the file name once it is exported to this version, and there are black squares that appear as an image that I have to delete. Can someone please tell me what this is all about? Thank you all so much.
  8. Thank you to you all for the information and help. I will check it all out. Please take care. And have a Happy Easter, if you celebrate this holiday.
  9. I really wanted to use the stylistic sets. Can these work with Georgia also? Thank you.
  10. Hi. I initially was using Georgia in a book title and wanted to try some different effects. I don't particularly have a special font in mind. I was practicing because I would like to create some web pages for a web site to use. So any help would really help. I just wanted something different. Thanks.
  11. Hi There. I am new to publisher, and have watched a few tutorials. While watching the characters: advance typography tutorial, I was using the program at he same time, and doing exactly what the tutorial was showing needed done to change the fonts to a different created style. But it did not work at all. I even used the same font type, Gabriola, and went through the video a few times, and still, I couldn't get it to change from the pop up panel, or the panel on the right. The stylistic set does not open up for any style change after disabling the standard ligature icon. Is something wrong with the program, or am I not getting all my instructional facts straight? I also updated the version to the newest one available. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
  12. And by the way: My book covers are done. I found it very easy to create them in AFPublisher versus AFPhoto once I saw the correct tutorials that addressed my questions. Thanks again to all.
  13. Thank you for the link. I looked it up and found it interesting and informative. Please take care.
  14. Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it very much. Please take care.
  15. Thanks to all who responded. I did discover the Affinity tutorials from their website after the fact. I was just looking on YouTube and wasn't getting anywhere. And yes, I did just jump into it. So, I'll do some training and try again. And I have no clue as to what DTP even is. So I must not be using it? Please take care everyone.
  16. Hi. I just purchased Affinity Publisher to complete my book cover, as photo doesn't seem to work. I cannot get the text frame to work correctly. I had plenty of practice in Affinity Photo, but it won't work here. I tried watching some of the tutorials. I only need a simple answer. To begin with, I couldn't even get any text to type. Now, it has a black background. I realize this must be a simple fix, but I cannot seem to locate the answer. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  17. Hi there. So I guess I asked the same question once before but I forgot. Toddler senior moment. Sorry. But I am still having problems with this book cover and getting it to print out consistently and with the correct black density. I've tried redoing the entire cover from scratch, but the title still dose not print out black/black, it has a muted black and is compromised in the darkness. This is frustrating for me. I have made two book covers, one for paperback and one for hardback. Both are almost exactly the same. The hardback prints out perfectly. I've tried copying from the hardback to the paperback to see if that works. I've tried everything I know how to do and nothing is working. In addition, when I place the exact same photo of myself on the PDF template, just as I have done before, it does not show up the same. I am trying to figure this out, but I cannot. Like I said, I've tried redoing everything, I've tried copying and pasting. I am at a loss at to why one cover is perfect, the the other one is NOT right. Please, if someone can help me, I would really appreciate this very much. I really want to get this book out there. And please tell me if anyone knows, why is there an eyeball staring at me when I work in the text boxes? Thank you so much.
  18. HI There. Hope everyone is well. I have some questions I hope someone can help me with about my book cover design. Now that I have it all done, in order to make it PDF ready with fonts embedded for another printer to print, how do I do this and make sure it is right? Do I compress the layers first? Do I rasterized it? I also have another question, please. I just updated to 1.9. I now see an eye looking at me when I am in my text boxes. I can click it and cross it out, but it is still there. Can someone please tell me what this eye means? Thank you so much for answering my questions. Please take care. Angelika
  19. Thank you. I read the link and it was very helpful. I will reset my ICC monitor profile to ensure it is the correct one I need to be using. Please take care.
  20. Hi: I am using a Mac Catalina OS. I edited the image in LR and placed it in Affinity. I'm not sure what the ICC profile is in Affinity. I'm not sure how to attach a screen shot. But my monitor has been calibrated with SpyderXPro if that helps. The blue looks great in other programs, including Mac's photo, except Affinity. And do you know what color profile I should export this for a later print to ensure the colors are true? Thank you so much for your help.
  21. Hi. Can anyone please tell me why my blue dress that looks great in other programs, but does not come out even close to the color when I place it in a PDF template in Affinity Photo? Also, does anyone know how I can export this template to keep the colors the same? I am using it as a book cover design. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  22. Thank you both for your help. I will try these out. And I think I correctly edited the Title now. Thanks for that info too. Have a great day.
  23. Hi. I hope someone can help me. I am designing a book cover from a PDF template in Affinity Photo. I have the image in place, and typed the title and other information. My question is, how do I make sure it is all embedded in a PDF that will be able to print from a print on demand printer? Right now, they are in layers. Thank you so much to anyone who can help me. I am using Catalina on a Mac.
