  1. Hi Walter, To the rescue again! That works. I understand your point about a leading override and thank you for the explanation - on other platforms I've always relied on base line shift for fine tuning sections of text and not come across an override feature before - or just not noticed it perhaps. I'm finding that whilst Publisher has a huge array of typographic controls and refinements which is lovely for a designer like me they do seem to be a spread across several windows and I am not yet totally familiar with the location of everything. I think Freehand got it right with one comprehensive window with everything type related in the one place. Thank you for your help. Peter

Hello, Over many years I have used all of the major design and publishing applications and I am really enjoying Publisher, but the text formatting controls do not always seem to work as expected. With Baseline Grid switched on it seems impossible to change leading for a caption text box. There must be an override somewhere but I can't see it. Any ideas? I am also still trying to work out why Leading in the Character window is called Leading Override but in the Paragraph window its called Leading and they don't necessarily show the same values. I'm sure there is a reason for this but it does seem overly complicated.
  3. I am in the process of converting 80+ packaging artworks from Adobe Illustrator CS6 to Publisher. All the Illustrator artworks share a core set of PMS colours plus 1 specific PMS for each individual file. In Illustrator (and InDesign) this is very easy to mange. In Publisher the swatch management is anything but straightforward. I set up an application wide PMS palette which held the core Pantone colours and then added a new PMS specific to the particular artwork. On opening a new file I have to hunt for the core Pantone palette which doesn't always show. On opening a new file the application defaults to a generic swatch and again doesn't always show my core set in the drop down. I am worried that this is a recipe for critical errors as I process this job and I can't help wondering why Affinity have adopted such a clunky way of managing things. Illustrator enables the Pantone book to be displayed as a pull-out panels separate from the swatch panel which makes managing colour selection so much easier. I don't intend this as a winge as I really like Publisher and why I am putting in the time to learn it by transitioning these artworks. So I would appreciate any insights that more experienced users might be able to offer. I have been through the video tutorials and couldn't find the answer there.
