  1. Oh my...I should've waiting a few more minutes and then I would have had your response. I manually imported what I had (not a lot obviously). Thank you so much for your information though!!
  2. Thank you carl123 and v_kyr. You are both correct. Under "Start", I have two versions available for Affinity Photo. Is it correct that I will have to reload all my assets, macros and paid (and made) brushes manually? They are not showing up in the V2 application. Thanks again!! If this has already been addressed, feel free to direct me that way. Thank you both!! ADDED: I just exported all my brushes, assets, and macros out of V1 and then imported into V2. Aggravating to have it do it that way but it was fairly smooth. Thanks again!!
  3. I installed my V2 Photo version and when it initially opened, it was noticably different with the icons, etc. However, I did not have any of my paid or made brushes, assets, macros, etc. Therefore, I exited out of Affinity. When I reopened Affinity it indicated there was a new version. I downloaded it and installed it. There was also a newer version available so I downloaded and installed it as well. Now, I have all my brushes, assets, macros, etc. that was missing initially but the icons and tools look as they had with the original version of Affinity. It is reporting that my version is 1.10.6.1665. Is this correct and is the latest and upgraded version? Thanks. If more information is necessary, I will provide. Thank you!!!
  4. OH MY GOODNESS MEB!! LOVE it. You've saved my well being!! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving. Thanks for your help! Not sure how it got changed to Lighten but I will definitely look out for that in the future. Yes...it worked!!
  5. I want to paint with black on the mask layer to reveal the black fill layer below. The fill layer has a gradient applied.
  6. Yes, I have the brush as a basic brush. Round, soft brush at 25% hardness, 100% opacity and 100% flow. I choose my brush, choose the color black, and paint on the mask with black to thus reveal the fill layer below it. I've not tried painting with other colors.
  7. Hey Walt!! Sorry on my part, the background layer is already a Pixel layer but is labeled Background when I open into Affinity Photo. I definitely think it is something about my workflow that causes the problem but my workflow is relatively the same for most images. I will be working on several images over the next few days so I will try to screenshot what I am seeing. Thanks!!
  8. My workflow consists of making a duplicate of the background layer and making corrections such as blemish removal, cloning, etc. Once I have finished my corrections on the duplicated background layer, I will then flatten. Once flattened, the background layer turns to a Pixel layer. I usually apply the lock on that layer at this point. Then, I will duplicate this Pixel layer. Above the pixel layer, I will apply a fill layer with a gradient applied. Once the fill layer is suitable with the gradient applied, I will move duplicated Pixel layer above the fill layer. I will then apply a mask (white) to this Pixel layer that is above the fill layer. At this point, there are many times that I am unable to paint with a black brush on this white mask. My workaround has been delete the duplicated Pixel layer and fill layer, export as PSD layer. I then can open the saved PSD layer, and perform the above steps and usually am able to paint with black. A lot of the times, after applying the fill layer, my brushes will be in grayscale color. Not sure why this would cause a problem after I change to RGB with black and white color swatches. Any suggestions? It gets frustrating when I have multiple images that need to be blacked out. Thanks in advance!!
  9. I've searched the forums and haven't quite found an answer to my question. I am creating a document in Photo with text. However, when the layers are saved in PSD format, they change to pixel layers upon reopening the image and I am unable to reopen and edit the text. I am doing something wrong upon saving or is there a work around for this?
  10. Well, I think I may have bypassed the issue. Thank you for offering to evaluate the image!!
  11. ashf...I did try a noise filter but it just didn't remove a lot of the banding. Supposedly, using a solar curve and the spatter filter in PS virtually removes it all. Of course, that is my question, is there anything similar in AP to this technique. Thank you!!!
  12. I have an image 8 bit that has a lot of banding. There are videos indicating that a spatter filter can be used (PS). Is there anything like this available in AP? If a spatter brush can be used in a similar manner, any insight on that process would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Hey Walt! Thank you for your suggestion. It absolutely worked like a charm. I made myself a note and hopefully on the next update, I will remember and start out that way. Thank you again!! Have a good day and upcoming weekend!!!
  14. Hello! I am experiencing the "setup failed" message when trying to update to 1.8. I believe I encountered the same problem with the last update. May I copy my log files to this thread for support? Thank you!!!
