  1. @markw that’s interesting you say that. I’ve heard many people say they prefer Glyphs and Glyphs only. But as I said, people have been hand lettering in Ai and AD for years, so I presumed it’s not impossible to either build fonts/logotype in it. Can I ask, do you know of or have ever tried Glyphr Studio? It’s online based. Just wondering whether I could do my letters in AD first, then import into Glyphr studio. I’m a little dubious to choose bad apps in case I ever choose to distribute and it all goes kaput. Thank you for your help.
  2. @firstdefence thanks for your advice. I never thought of using shapes, so thank you. I have looked at Glyphs/other font creation apps and want to use it them in the future, but right now my only setup is an iPad. The shape idea is brilliant.
  3. I’m currently learning how to effectively and precisely use the pen tool to vectorize my hand lettering for logotypes. However, though I’ve learned the basics e.g. placing points in the extremas, handles either vertical or horizontal with appropriate equidistant lengths, overlapping the curve lines in corners and ensuring the handles don’t ever lap each other. However, I’m still struggling, especially when it comes to thinner letters. Getting the curves to look smooth is harder with thinner shapes and inflection points are a nuisance. Does anyone know of any advanced teachers or techniques? I understand it’s practice but I think I need a little more clarity. A lot of letterers and type designers use Glyphs which they brag is better at creating letters whilst dissing programs like AI and Affinity. But my argument is that it can’t be that hard as people have been mastering the pen tool for years. I’ve begun studying others’ curves from Pinterest, but I’ve noticed that people have generally the same technique. Some people I notice use Glyohs, which I unfortunately don’t have access to as I use the IPad. So, does anyone have tips or resources? Help would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.
  4. Thank you! I can see now! Thank you so much for all your help. All fixed. 👼 😄
  5. Here’s a gift of what’s going on. Sorry for quality, but you can still see that the blue thing moves with my brush. I don’t believe I have anything turned on with regards to transformation point. I hope this clarifies. Thank you again to everyone contributing help.
  6. Okay guys. So I don’t have any buttons pressed like command or Shift of whatever. I don’t have a keyboard either. It’s just decided it’s staying. Thanks again for your help.
  7. I don’t know how, but out of the blue I accidentally added a brush cursor in Affinity Designer 2, and now I don’t know how to get rid of it. Help, please. I’m sure many find it helpful but I find it distracting. Thank you so much!
  8. @Lee D Would you possibly have a solution? I had another play tonight. It’s not when I’m scrolling through the layers etc. I actually had a real good play with gradient maps and HSL, even layering them on multiply and such - didn’t crash. But it’s when I start using vectors on that specific file, it crashes. I managed to create my illustration no problem. But I then opened another file (which when I think back started crashing a little a week or so ago), and then pasted my newly made illustration on an art board in that file to copy and paste some shape elements onto my new work, and then pasted it back into my new document file, that’s when it started happening. Now, the one I pasted it into started crashing when I had a lot of art boards. But this new file just has one with about a hundred layers.
  9. Reopened the same two projects again, and they crashed. But when starting a new canvas and doing some rigorous play with all the features, it doesn’t crash. Sometimes when I open those specific files, they crash right away, or sometimes it takes a couple of minutes.
  10. @Lee D so grateful for you to have replied. In between my last reply I have done a full swipe of my iPad. But what I did notice was that certain documents it would do it with, they were somehow connected. Could it be that if you copy and paste certain artboards to and from certain projects that are "corrupted," that it would then affect others and make them crash? Anyway, I have reinstalled all apps including affinity.
  11. Yeah, I have only used 75GB. I did just see that someone else had the exact same problem on the bug reports.
  12. Currently on 75GB of 256GB. I actually factory reset my iPad back in march, just for a cleanup since I purchased a couple of years ago. So I don’t know how it could be a problem. I’m concerned now though. Thank you for your help! Much appreciated.
  13. Yes, of course. Multiple times.
  14. Basically it keeps crashing. Don’t know why. Never had a problem before. Just started happening this week. Affinity 2.5 IPad Pro 12.9 2021 / OS 17.5.1 Any suggestions or help? I need it for my work. Thank you.
  15. I actually managed to reinstall 95% of my brushes. The way I did it was by redownloading from the stores I got them from. What I have noticed is that if you upload them to either Google Drive or say iCloud and then re-download them, they won’t import - and yes I did put them in a folder on my iPad first before importing. And it’s not that my files were corrupted, because Artifex Forge have free brushes that are made available through their Google Drive - they still don’t work unfortunately. However, brushes downloaded directly from stores like Retro Supply or Frankentoon import just fine. Anyway, I’m sure it will be resolved. 👌
  16. Simply isn’t working. I wiped my iPad for clean start. Reinstalled Affinity. Can’t import my brushes. Everything works fine but that. The free brushes connected to my account downloaded and installed well, so I don’t understand why I can’t import my own. They’re a new set I bought the other day. They are well-compatible made specifically for Affinity from Frankentoon. My own purchased brushes were importing perfectly fine the other day. Now they aren’t. Please help I need affinity for work!!
  17. So grateful @Bryan Rieger thank you. I kept wondering why the generic CYMK just didn’t look right. Thank you also for what you provided. Really helpful to see. 😊
  18. FYI, the image I provided has become super saturated when uploading and so kinda defeats what it really looks like on my IPad. Image re-upload below.
  19. I use Procreate to illustrate and love to use Affinity 2 for colour checking and other design stuff. I use an IPad Pro 12.9 2021. However, I’ve noticed that Procreate’s CMYK is really quite dull in comparison to Affinity’s, especially with the reds. Do I have the right CMYK format in Affinity? Currently set to U.S. Web (SWOP) coated v2 with Relative Colourimetric. Why is this? Do I simply trust Affinity to provide an accurate representation of CMYK? Thank you for your help, this is really important!
  20. It crashes when opening projects and even when creating new ones. It opens or starts a new project - then about 3 seconds later it simply closes and crashes. I had not updated it when it started. However, I just updated now, as well as restarting my laptop it to see if that was the issue - but it's still doing it! It was working fine yesterday. Please help. I really need AP. Thanks
  21. Basically looked through the forum as best I could and tried pretty much everything that anyone has said. Not sure if I missed something? I'm having problems when placing vector patterns together - I don't like to rasterize stuff generally. I've attached three images: one is the PDF file of two of the same patterns. One is rotated and the other is not. I thought I was having the white line issue with only rotated patterns - however - in Affinity itself and in the PDF image (which I previewed in Chrome) the non-rotated pattern had no white lines, they may have come and gone when zooming in and out, but for the most part they weren't there. When I exported to PDF, they had gone. But when printed out, they were far worse than I anticipated. I'm not sure if this is me or whether Affinity doesn't like seamless patterns made with vectors. You get the white lines even if you place four square vector tiles together. If there is a private link where I can share my work then someone might be able to help. This is so important. THANK YOU Pattern test for print.pdf
  22. That's what I was hoping. I think this is a myth. But I was wrong about non-rotating patterns - they have white lines too! Here are some actual printouts.
