  1. That worked. Thanks. Sadly, I still can't see the photo in the viewing area.
  2. Hmm...that isolates it to my laptop. Interesting. Preview works fine. iPhoto worked great until last week. Now, it's not displaying in the viewing area, but does show at the Import level, same behavior we're trying to understand here. That's why I bought Affinity. Maybe my graphics card is dying. Or something is suddenly incompatible. I will have to wander off and try another tack. Thank you very much for your time, everybody. Jim
  3. Madame...thanks for the look, but the "solution" didn't work for me.
  4. Big-Stan...No, I haven't tried that. I'll uninstall it and reinstall and will report back. I'll get there sometime today.
  5. Restarted and reopened. Same result: visible in Navigator only.
  6. I'm sorry, I don't know where the Performance tab is. OS X El Capitan v10.11.6 Yes, the image opens fine in Preview, but recently it has also had difficulty opening in iPhoto.
  7. Here's a new screen shot with the arrow select chosen. It wants to display the loaded image, but doesn't. (The macro studio is closed.)
  8. Big_Stan: Yeah, that is exactly what I hoped to see. I have no idea what's going on. That's why I'm here. Old Bruce: I may have opened the macro studio in my intuitive efforts to solve my dilemma. This all happened (didn't happen, really) the first time I opened Affinity. I've closed it, now.
  9. Here are the specs for my laptop: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011) - Technical Specifications.htmlhttp://www.pbs.org/independentlens/films/rumble/#.XEbIMRlPlXw.email Here's the screenshot of what I see after opening a file. The photo shows up in the lower right-hand corner: And it's not exactly what I see, but probably close enough. What I see is the viewing area as black, not white.
