  1. There is no synchronisation, or automatic backup. I prefer to do these things manually.
  2. They are saved locally on my C-drive, which is an SSD drive. In fact, they are in a sub-folder of the Windows 'Documents' folder.
  3. Unfortunately, this problem has been getting worse. The solution above had been working, but with the attached file, even if I create a new file from the clipboard, AD crashes when I save it. I fear my saves are becoming corrupted, and I am not sure what to do about this. The two examples I have posted are fairly straightforward to rebuild from scratch, but I have some files which would take many hours to recreate. Further, I am not even sure that backing up will help, because the apparent corruption may begin before it manifests in a crash. Base Action - Civil Emergency.afdesign
  4. Saving any modification to the attached file crashes Affinity Designer with 100% repeatability (over about a dozen tries). I have a number of other files which are very similar to the attachment , which do not crash A.D. when amending and saving. At least they haven't yet done so. As you can imagine, this is a very worrying problem. Era 8 Science Project.afdesign
  5. Thanks for the replies. On inspecting my installation, I found I had two versions of AD installed: a 1.7. version and a 1.6. version. Not really sure how that happened, but in any event, I uninstalled them both, then reinstalled, and now it seems to be working properly. Only problem is, my assets are gone. Anyone happen to know if the uninstall/reinstall would have killed them, or will they be in a folder somewhere?
  6. I'm currently running 1.7.1.404. Since installing this version, thumbnails for afdesign files do not show for me in file view (either through AD or through Windows Explorer). All I see are the file icons. Some points to note: 1. It is only the afdesign files I saved since the update that have this problem. Files saved before the update display correctly. But if I go and modify a file saved before the update, then save it, I'll only see the icon. 2. The option "Save thumbnails with documents has been checked'. It has always been checked. I tried unchecking then rechecking, but no effect. 3. If I export a file to a pdf, the thumbnail for that shows correctly. 4. Thumbnails for other all file types seem to be working correctly, as far as I can see. 5. I tried recreating the thumbnail cache, but that has had no effect. If anyone has any idea about how I might fix this problem, I'd be grateful.
  7. Alright, thank you. I went back and looked at the original documents, and copied those settings precisely, then it started working. It turns out the problem was that my 'leading override' was set to zero in the character panel. Not sure why that was different, because it's not a setting I'm likely to have changed deliberately, but I guess I must have 'knocked' it at some point. Thanks for helping me to find the solution :-)
  8. You may be right about that. I was searching for AD, but maybe some sites for AP were found, and I hadn't realised. The main point remains, however. I've tried fiddling with the spacing settings (and every other setting I can think of). I cannot create frame text boxes with more than one line of text, because instead of wrapping round, it just overwrites the top line. At present, my only solution to that is to copy text boxes from boxes I created previously into new documents. Or to start new lines with a new paragraph, which isn't always appropriate. I can't believe that the explanation is anything other than something stupid I'm overlooking, but the problem remains.
  9. Short story: there must be an option to turn on text 'wrap around' in text frames, but I can't see it. Please can someone help? Long story: when I first bought AD, I made several files with text in frame boxes, and it all wrapped around fine. If I go back and change these files, the text still wraps around, no problem. But if I try to create a text frame in a new file, the text does not wrap around. It just goes back to the beginning of the line and overwrites. I have to press return to get it to start a new paragraph instead of wrapping round. I've tried messing with font sizes and the size of the frame box, and everything else I can think of, to no avail. I'm thinking there's an option somewhere that I've turned off, but I can't find it. As an aside, in the course of trying to find an answer to this question, I noticed a number of guides referring to wrapping tools available in the toolbar. However, I don't have these, and they're not present in the customise toolbar options either (I have scrolled all the way through the box). If anyone has any ideas about how I fix this, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.
