Downloaded trial version of Publisher, freezes, not responding, crashed , uninstalled it, will just stick with inffinity photo, it works ok

I have just bought Affinity Designer version 1.9.0. When trying to create a new custom document e.g. at 210 x 210, I type in the page dimensions in the relevant fields, then when I click on create it just defaults to A4, also if I click on create new custom preset it just creates a new preset of A4 not 210 x 210. I am using Mac OS X 10.9.5. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? See screenshots. Thanks in advance.
