Thanks MBd. I had selected the photo(layer) but hadn't rasterised it, didn't know I had to. Once I rasterised the photo(layer) the inpainting brush works. Does this make sense to you? I am at the frustrating/early learning stage and whilst I try to get it right in camera, Photo seems an amazing product. Thanks again for your help and keep doing the videos. :)

I am new to Affinity Photo and using a forum. I am trying to remove objects/people from a photo using the inpainting brush. I select the brush follow the process in the videos but nothing happens. I have used nef, jpeg and psd file versions of photo but nothing happens. If I select what I want to remove then go to the Edit the inpaint is greyed out. Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm new to Photo and whilst I can place (import) photos, I can't find a way to use the inpainting brush. I have tried using nef, jpeg and tiff files. I am on the photo layer but nothing happens when I use the inpainting brush. To try another way I can select what I am trying to get rid, but when I go to the Edit menu at the top inpaint is greyed out. I have watched the inpainting videos and read other peoples problems but still can't find an answer why inpainting doesn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks MEB, it all makes sense now. I try to get it right in camera, but have done any photo edits in Aperture as this has an easy useable library to keep all my photos and I am use to it. Do intend to start using Affinity Photo to do any edits, but not sure how best to store them in a library, hence one of the reasons I use Aperture.
It is great to get such quick help and guidance when you have a problem. I am sure Photo will replace Aperture for photographers and feel so confident in your software have bought Affinity Designer, just need to practice using it. Thanks again. :)
