Yes it is and its the same thing, it removesa the actual picture and not the background

I have been trying so hard to remove a background and im having no luck with tutorials as they keep talking about flood selection tool, and its not working. And then when I traced it and deleted it, it remove the picture and not the background ( Yes it was inversed) Can I get some help please? The background im trying to remove is in the attatchment
How do i remove this background

See I knew I was doing something wrong THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!
One final question how do I go about exporting it as transparent background
