Rotating view in AD
homeyJay replied to homeyJay's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
It's the editing document that I'm rotating - the source is viewed normal rotation. No matter what I do, everytime I look at the reference doc, the rotation resets. Even if I save the document upside down, the view resets. Just have to wait for the fix, I guess.. -

ok, thanks. Hope it's fixed soon! -
I'm working on some artwork in AD where some parts are upside-down and I'm referring to another document (also open in AD) as a source for reference. I've rotated the document 180 degrees but EVERYTIME I switch tabs to the reference doc, AD resets the rotation in the first document! It's honestly driving me crazy and would like to know if theres some way to stop this behaviour and lock the document to the upside-down view till I'm ready to reset it manually. Anyone had this issue?

I'm doing a bag for a client and I decided I was going to try and use a combination of AP & AD instead of AD which I'd normally use. I was given a PDF print template and the plan was to overlay the layered artwork for the front and back of the bag over the template and send it to the printer. I've done this a bunch of times on AD with no issues at all. Normally I'd send the printer 2 layered pdfs - one for the front and one for the back of the bag but this time, I decided to embed the AD files into the template artwork which I'd opened in AP. Everything looked normal until I'd exported to pdf but when I examined the PDF with Acrobat reader, the 2 embedded AD files (front & back) were completely flattened! Is there a way around this? I like working in AP and embedding these files but the printer needs layered artwork and using AP seems to flatten the embedded docs.

Using tabs on Designer..

Thanks guys. I was looking at the vid for AP and thinking it was for Designer. You don't want to know how long I spent looking for that bloody Frame Text Ruler in Designer!! -
Hi Dan I've tried this and it still crashes. I've also removed the Nvidia drivers and re-installed some fresh ones, downloaded from their site. Same problem. The graphics card is a Quadro 2000 running a dual screen, 2560 X 1440 each screen. I think the clue is what the difference is between a cold boot and a reboot. Something is loaded / not loaded in one of them that's causing the issue.

Well, that is an interesting viewpoint. There is also a good possibility that the Affinity apps are doing something that they shouldn’t be doing that’s causing the video driver to crash. I have plenty of other graphics software on my PC that’s not causing a crash so my finger remains pointing at the Affinity suite.

Been using the suite for a long time and have recently updated to the latest version on Windows but I'm having a problem where the apps quit instantly after launch but ONLY after the first time the PC is turned on! If I reboot the machine after the first 'cold start', the apps are fine. I've removed and re-installed, repaired etc but nothing seems to help. Can anyone suggest anything please - this seems like crazy behaviour to me and I can't figure it out!! Just to recap; Switch on PC -- desktop -- launch any of the apps -- instant crash. Switch on PC -- reboot after reaching desktop -- launch any of the apps --working fine.

Thanks Lagarto, I just (2 mins ago) worked this out and am organising the documents in these layers right now. I don't really care about the layers being editable in illustrator - the last thing I want is for a printer to poke around the document and try and edit something in there - it's happened in the past and they always create a bigger mess than they try and solve!!

Just uploaded to the latest windows version of the suite and first thing I did was to export a bunch of artwork to a printer who called back and said that all the pdfs were flattened! I though I'd just messed up the 'export layers' button but I hadn't. I did another export and opened it in Acrobat and sure enough, no layers! Have I missed something? Is there some different method of layer export?
