  1. Because we are afraid! I, for one, don't make enough money off my new business to afford expensive software TO run my business.
  2. I didn't mind purchasing that major upgrade as it was still very reasonably priced. What I fear is that they WILL become subscription, only, or the already paid for versions will become unsupported, and eventually worthless. It's ridiculous to me how much software costs. We have a local business who's slogan is (paraphrasing) "We'd rather sell for less and make a whole lot more sales"... makes a LOT more sense to me, than to make software "exclusive" to only those who are already making a ton of money. Blah! So, Affinity, BAD move, in my opinion. You had a good thing going. WHY????
  3. Not to mention 3.0! I bought an Adobe suite for college - mainly because I wanted to learn PS. They are GREAT products, but when they went subscription, and stopped supporting my version (6), I couldn't afford it. I was SO happy when I found Affinity Photo! I can't tell you how many photos I've edited since first making the purchase a few years ago. Just got done editing some 200+ .jpg photos for my husband's daughter. I was pleasantly surprised at how well AP did with them, knowing how messy it can be to edit .jpgs. Now, I'm concerned I'll be left high and dry, again, with Affinity's move to SELL to a not-so-choice company. May be a good move for Serif, but more than likely NOT for consumers. I'm just sad. I have a very small business that I'm trying to build, and any output I have to make just really cuts into my income. DANG, Affinity! REALLY?
  4. WOW! Thank you VERY much for this amazing work!!!
  5. Got it to work, all!!! THANK you for all the great help! I saved it as a help document WITH all your tips and instructions, also, so I can come back to it.
  6. Thank you! I'm saving all of this. I DID get it to work!!! Whew! Learning is quite a process for my little pea brain! LOL THANK you for all the tips!
  7. I want to fill this with the "Twas the Night Before Christmas" poem. I have saved it in .svg, .png (what I posted here), and .afphoto. Not sure which file I should use. I tried Komatös' suggestion, but couldn't figure out what he meant. Here is the image I want to fill.
  8. Thanks! I'll give that a shot! Beautiful Lab, BTW!!! I used to show Labs, and miss that.
  9. So, I have to draw around the image, using the pen tool, then create a clipping mask? Oh, boy. My hand is too shaky for that. I was hoping I could just "cut it out", then fill it in. It's a solid shape, not shaded like your gorilla.
  10. Yes, very similar. Now what? LOL I'm not certain as to which file type to save it so I can add text in it.
  11. This may be a bit "convoluted", but... I cut out a part of an image, saved the cut out part, and turned it red. I need to save this "image" as a shape I can fill with text. I can't find a way to do that in Photo or Designer. Not even sure the file type in which I should save it. I need to keep the color (red), and fill with white text. CAN it be done in Photo or Designer? Do I make it into a tracing, then make the background of the text red, the text white, and do a mask? That isn't quite what I want to accomplish, but it would be close enough to get the gist of what I'm trying to create.
  12. I know I can use the color replacement brush tool. Been there, done that. My issue is this: I frequently work with black and white graphics. Up to this point, my workflow has been to remove white, then invert so the image is white. Then, I go to Adjustment Layer and choose Recolor. This works, except if I need to replace the color with a specific hex color. There is no option, and using the sliders isn't very helpful. Is there something I'm missing, or is there a better way? For my work, using the color replacement brush isn't very quick, so I'm not keen on that option. I guess I'm thinking it would be nice if I could just type in a hex color in the color picker.
