Conundrum Over The Difference Between The Desktop Version And The iPad Version.

Recommended Posts

I just paid close to fifty bucks for Frank Walters fine book, The Affinity Bible Part One  , and was disappointed to quickly learn that it is entirely devoted to the desktop version of Affinity Photo. I, of course use the iPad version and have zero experience with the desktop version of Affinity. This got me wondering if some fine soul might have put together a table or other guide showing the relationship between the two versions implementations of the various tools. Has anyone done that and, if so, where might I find it?

Hi Sid007,

Welcome to the forums :)

Theres no table or guide that I'm aware of however there aren't many differences between the 2 versions the main one I can think of is that Photo on iPad doesn't support Macros.

Hey Callum, don’t you mean iPad can’t 'record' macros. It certainly supports importing and running them. :)
Maybe you’re thinking of Designer.

M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB   lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
Affinity Photo 1.10.5 Affinity Design 1.10.5

There is also no support for global colours or searching for colours, and we don’t currently have spot or overprint options.

So happy to hear your comments, guys. They are certainly informative and helpful. And, with the introduction of the very first version of iPadOS (v. 13.1.2), it would appear that the two (iPad and desktop) might be closing the gap even further.
