How to perform "Paste in place"?

Recommended Posts

I want to CUT the background and deal with the complex contents. (I can't do it without first remove the background)

In illustrator, I can cut and paste in place, so that the location of background remains the same.

I could find the same function in Designer.
If I just PASTE it (cmd+v), it will paste in the centre of the artboard while I was working outside the artboard ...

any suggestions?

If I understand correctly what you want to do, just select & drag the background layer completely off the artboard.

Thank you for your prompt reply :)
I just said goodbye to the whole CS6 and move to serif family.

TOP: [very complex elements]
Bottom:

I want to:
1) CUT the background matt; then
2) play with the complex elements, then
3) PASTE the background matt at the exact location (x,y) <<<< problem here!!!!!!!!
4) arrange it to the back

because, if I use CMD+V, the background matt will paste at the centre of the artboard, instead of the location I CUT.

It is the "paste in place" = where i cut it, where it place back.

I think all you need to do is select the background layer, move it to the bottom of the layer stack, & hide it until you are finished editing the other layers.

To me it in Affinity CMD-V pastes always in place. While I am working outside an artboard then it will be pasted in place, too. But on an artboard again.

That's what I mean in the video below.

Yes, I can find that element out of the layers interface and then hide it.

but, just asking for something used to do :)

pS: It is very good that this forum permits to upload video!! thumb UP!

PS2: how can i embed the video with player?

I am not able to reproduce this paste offset. – Could you show it in a video + layers panel + just 3 objects only + on a smaller artboard?

ps: the video player is in the readers system/browser. No need to embed.
pps: if you delete in your post an object from the text it is NOT deleted form the post! To avoid a deleted item appear in your post you must delete it in the area below: there click on the bin icon in its squared preview pict.
