doc dimensions in mm

to resize doc in mm i have to change from default pixel size to mm, how can i make mm default

You can create a preset when using File > New that will use mm as the document units. Or, if you use mm once when using File > New then the next document you create should also use mm.

But you cannot make mm a default for other documents that you Open.

tks walt but i want to resize doc and it always opens with pixels as default and it is this value that i want to open as mm and haavent found way to achieve

In the short term you can select the View tool (H)  and quickly change the document units from there, kind of a shortcut to dimension units.

Or, if you have the rulers showing, right-click on the units measurement at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical rulers, and change the unit type there.

Actually re the view tool the icon name is pantool so I wonder why it isn’t called the same in the GUI?

Perhaps it is for the same reason that in all three Affinity apps the icon family name is "gradienttool" for what in the GUI of two of the three apps is called the Fill Tool but in the third is called the Gradient Tool ... for whatever unfathomable reason that might be?
