Or, if you use mm once when using File > New then the next document you create should also use mm. But you cannot make mm a default for other documents that you Open. Or, if you have the rulers showing, right-click on the units measurement at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical rulers, and change the unit type there. Perhaps it is for the same reason that in all three Affinity apps the icon family name is "gradienttool" for what in the GUI of two of the three apps is called the Fill Tool but in the third is called the Gradient Tool ... for whatever unfathomable reason that might be?
