sttomas
Hi Has anyone else had issues with PDF imports? As you'll see from the screenshot below that the whole fonts and type have somehow changed while importing PDFs to publisher? Is there a fix around this? It's a basic part of what publishing software needs as saves a lot of work while trying to publish a magazine.
Wosven
Hi, You need the font installed, or to replace them in APub if the app can't reconize an installed font used in a document (because the name used in the PDF isn't the same as the one in the font). mgabriel
for some reason they dont have the feature to use the embedded fonts in the pdf doc. thats what made me stop using affinity for most jobs. i get pdfs from adobe users with embedded fonts and i cant use them cause i dont have the 100% exact same font to replace. the adobe users on the other side seem to be religiously against exporting text as paths and seem to have technical trouble as well doing it
mac_heibu
No, there is no „religion“ or ignorance at all about converting text to paths for „Adobe users“. The simple fact is, that font conversion reduces font output quality, because font hinting is discarded. This is visible on lower output resolutions, which are commonly used in digital printing processes. Moreover, last minute text modifications are not possible in this case. Font conversion to avoid output issues definitely is a last-century-approach and shouldn‘t be used any more. The only proper way to solve theses kind of issues is building PDF pass through into the Affinity apps.
Iain Bason
This really makes life difficult. I agree that PDF pass through is necessary.
