Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm learning Affinity Photo and I'm trying to find information about adding composition area/working area which i know from Photoshop. I'm working on Google GDN project so I need to have one document with many composition area with different sizes. Is it possible in Affinity Photo?

Hi Driftinsider,

Welcome to the forums :)

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by composition areas either I'm afraid. If possible could you provide an example of what you are looking for?

Thanks

Sounds like you want artboards, they are not a option in photo.

This is a designer feature.

Yes artboards! That's what i mean.

That's not good. This is one of the functions I use more often in Photoshop :(

You can create a very large document with the separate objects on it and use the export persona for exporting different designs.

It's not a solution but thanks! I need to have several artboards and the ability to export each to a separate file.

The only way i see now is to buy a Affinity Designer. Sorry for my english.

Or just get the entire set of Photo , Designer and Publisher :). Seriously though, just drop your cloud subs for a couple of months and there's the money to do just that!

From what it loooks like you're doing I'd say Designer is a much better tool for that than working in a raster package like Photoshop. Give it a spin and I think you'll see the benefits fairly early on. PS = raster with some vector abilities. Designer = Vector with some raster abilities. Publisher + Designer + Photo = everything in one place using the personas.

You can do that in Photo, without artboards, as @haakoo said.

Make a large canvas. And then, for example, make one design in the upper left corner, another in the upper right corner, and one in the lower right corner, and one in the lower left corner.

Switch to the Export Persona, and using the Slice Tool create 4 slices, one for each design. Then export those slices to individual files.

It is more convenient with artboards (which are not a Photo feature), but it can be done in Photo without them.
