How to import brushes to affinity

Recommended Posts

I’m having issues with importing brushes to affinity on my iPad. I used to download brushes from deviant art and brusheezy, but now it doesn’t seem to work. Tried importing specifically affinity photo brushes and I’m still having the same issue.

Hi Bethany, unless there is an issue with the brushes or a bug in affinity (bug fix claimed for importing brushes in latest release) the only other consideration would be to ensure vector brushes are imported when in Design persona and raster brushes when in Pixel persona. Location sometimes plays a part. Usually iCloud gives least issues. Also make sure zipped files are unzipped. Files app can now do this in iOS 13.

Having the same problem. I use AF Photo for painting on windows, and just recently got an iPad to take some of my work on the go. I'm trying to import the Daub Pigmento brushes I bought, but for some reason, AF Photo for iPad refuses to let me select any of the .afbrushes files :(

iPadOS 13.1.2, AF Photo for iPad 1.7.3.155

That is strange. I am currently able to import .afbrush files from Dropbox to Affinity Photo. Perhaps it is something to do with the specific brush that you are importing?

I have attached a .afbrushes file (made by Pedro Soares) that I just now successfully imported, in case you wish to test it.

Nope, those don't work either. I transferred them to the "Affinity Photo" folder "On My iPad", but they appear as grayed out and unselectable when I try to import them in AP.

You can't import from that location. It’s an ongoing issue that unfortunately, like a lot of bugs in the affinity iPad apps, have not yet been fixed. Try installing from Dropbox or iCloud. They should work (I used Dropbox successfully with that brush file). :)

That's such a strange bug. I tried it from my google drive account, and it had the same issue. Finally caved and signed up for dropbox, and that did the trick. Very bizarre...

It should work for iCloud too. Apple give you a free account and 5GB (I think ) free storage. Sign In with Apple ID. :)
