Silhouette multiple objects with one shared outline?

Recommended Posts

Is this possible in a non-destructive, flexible way?

Here's what I mean:

Now, I made this effect with four objects, but that's difficult to edit. Is it possible to do this with only the original two?

I tried grouping them and selecting an outline on the group, but that just applied an outline to all individual objects and that's not what I want.

Hi Eobet,

There is no way to do this and keep the two colours the way you have them. You can do this using 3 objects with the boolean operations and clipping you can find a crude example of this below :)

Thanks

If you add Erase blend mode, it will nondestructive add contour of that shape inside the group.

You can play a little with the gradient of the outline to achive some offsets.

Am attaching my file.

It would be cool to have same options on Outline as there are on Stroke. You could than add dashed line and change the corners from round to sharp and so on.

Thank you both, that worked... sort of.

The problem is that this rasterizes that group when you export it to an EPS, making the file very large (and no longer editable outside of Affinity). But not only that, any lines behind the group get included in the rasterization in a rather ugly clipping rectangle.

So I'd still like to suggest to the developers that this effect can remain vectorized on export, even if you lose the simplified editability.
