I think the 'Donut' feature isn't quite right. The inner ellipse appears to be the same proportion as the outer ellipse when in fact shouldn't they be different?

'Donut' would appear to be another name for 'Annulus' and the distance between the inner and outer ellipses should be the same all the way round. However it doesn't always follow and in very thin ellipses the 'rule' above collapses and in perspective they aren't even ellipses! See my drawing.

In a true Donut/Annulus the inner and outer 'ellipses' are not true ellipses since the ends on the major axis are part of a circle and not an ellipse.

That'll be do-able using a standard ellipse with an inner stroke on it then....?

The Donut is what it is. It's not going to be changed now.

I don't think Donut stroke position makes any difference unless I'm misunderstanding you.

What was the reason for creating the Donut feature in the first place when it is no different to using two concentric ellipses?

The other way to create a true donut, which have used a few times, is with the 'Expand stroke' feature. However it is a swine to edit.

I'm saying, you can create the shape you described by creating a standard ellipse with an inner stroke at the size you require.

OK I did understand. However if you don't want a solid shape like this then you would have to apply 'Expand stroke' and create a double ellipse which is what I have been doing.

I did ask the question why was the 'Donut' feature added in the first place since it is neither one thing nor the other? Just asking!
